Origin and meaning

Gloria comes from Latin and means ' fame '. In Roman mythology , Gloria was the personification of fame, see Fama .

The name Gloria was not often used as a first name until the 20th century. Gloria was first used in You Never Can Tell (1898) by George Bernard Shaw .
