Astrid Gloria spent her childhood and youth in Oppenrod ; the elementary school she attended in Buseck and her high school she made on the Liebig School in Giessen. As a teenager she played theater and wrote articles for a school newspaper . In the winter semester of 1987/88 she moved to Hamburg to study . After completing her studies in German , journalism and history at the universities of Bonn , Norwich (1991 as Master of Arts ) and Hamburg (1993 as Magister Artium ), she took acting and singing lessons and learned the art of show magic from a magician . She graduated from the Cologne Comedy School for professional comedians, from which she graduated with the "Great Laughter Diploma".

Stage career

In 1990 Astrid Gloria appeared for the first time as a cabaret artist together with Uschi Linke as “Hertha and Berta, the magical cleaning women”. From 1992, after separating from Linke, she developed her own small solo programs. In May 1993 she made her debut with her first full-length solo program at the Hamburg cabaret Fools Garden with Hanne Mogler. She appeared in the midnight shows at the Schmidt Theater in Hamburg . Together with other cabaret artists and comedians, she co-founded FrontFrauen in 1993 . She also had her first appearances at the cabaret Traumstern in Lich . In May 1994 she met the composer Zeus J. Borrmann in the Stollwerck community center in Cologne. Borrmann took over the light and sound effects for Astrid Gloria's stage programs and later also became her life partner.

As a cabaret artist and comedian , Astrid Gloria gained notoriety in particular with the fictional character "Hertha Schwätzig", created by her in 1993 , with whom she was touring not only solo but also with Krissie Illing and Nessi Tausendschön . As Hertha Schwätzig, she formed the duo wilde women for several years together with the British comedian Krissie Illing, who had previously become known with her partner Mark Britton under the name Nickelodeon . Astrid Gloria and Krissie Illing also occasionally organized the Comedy Ladies Night program under this name . Astrid Gloria later completed a vegetarian cookery training course at the BioGourmetClub in Cologne as well as further training as a nutritionist with a focus on traditional Chinese medicine . Today she combines all of this in her stage appearances, which she calls “magical vegetarian cooking shows” and in which she appears as the “magic cook”.

Astrid Gloria had numerous appearances on various cabaret stages throughout Germany. She was compared to artists like Hella von Sinnen and Sissi Perlinger because of her shrill appearance and colorful outfits . Her best-known venues so far include the Cologne mustard pot and the Quatsch Comedy Club in Berlin and Hamburg . In Cologne Senftöpfchen she stood in 1999 at the gala for the 4o-year anniversary together with Hanns-Dieter Hüsch , Konstantin Wecker , Götz Alsmann , Beikircher and Bläck Fööss on stage. In 1997 she performed at the ufaFabrik in Berlin . She has made several guest appearances with her program (including September / October 1999, October 2012) in the Lower House of Mainz . In November 2002 Deutschlandfunk broadcast a radio portrait about Astrid Gloria with sketches and excerpts from her stage programs.

She is a member of the Magic Circle and is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians .

Astrid Gloria lives in Cologne.
