Glyn Jones (writer, 1905)

Glyn Jones (born February 28, 1905 in Merthyr Tydfil , Glamorganshire , † April 10, 1995 in Cardiff ) was a Welsh writer.

Life

Jones was born to a schoolteacher and postal worker. After attending Cyfarth Castle Grammar School in Merthyr Tydfil, he trained as a teacher at St. Paul's College in Cheltenham . He then worked as a teacher in Cardiff, Bridgend and Caerphilly . In 1965 he retired after 40 years in school.

Jones was a co-founder of Academi Gymreig . In 1974 he received from the University of Wales , the honorary doctorate awarded. He has published poems, novels, essays and short stories. He also worked as an editor and translated classic Welsh poetry into English .
