The Gmina Baranów is a rural municipality in the Powiat Puławski of the Lublin Voivodeship in Poland . It is located about 20 kilometers northeast of Puławy , the seat of the district, and 40 kilometers northwest of Lublin . In 2016 Gmina Baranów had 3982 inhabitants. Its seat of the same name, the village of Baranów , had 1672 inhabitants (2006).
history
The eponymous Baranów was founded in 1544 as a city under Magdeburg law . In the 19th century, at the time of Congress Poland , there was an economic decline and in 1870 the place lost its town charter.
From 1975 to 1998 the municipality belonged to what was then the Lublin Voivodeship . Since 1999 it has been part of the new Lublin Voivodeship .
