The Gneysovaya Peak ( Russian Гора Гнейсовая Gora Gnejsowaja , German ' Gneisberg ' , Norwegian Gneistoppen ) is a 2050  m high mountain in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises in the western Petermann chain of the Wohlthat massif from a ridge that connects the mountains Krakken and Sandseten .

It was discovered and mapped using aerial photographs during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Further mapping was carried out on the basis of aerial photographs and measurements of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960) and again during a Soviet expedition that lasted from 1960 to 1961. Participants in the latter research trip gave it its descriptive name, which reflects the predominant rock of the mountain. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the Russian name to English in 1970.
