action

First halftime

The big football club Olympique de Paris is a guest at the much smaller Club Capelongue. Nobody anticipates a problem. But the aging Samuel Lorit comes from the small town and is returning to his old home for the first time. But there he is considered a persona non grata and a traitor. In particular, his old friend Jeannot is after him or his father. He ordered extra steroids . At the door, however, the package is swapped and after he has given his son the injection, he turns into a zombie. The team bus with Lorit, Idriss, his successor as the star player, the journalist Soléne, and his teammates reached the stadium. Sam receives a frosty reception straight away. The local ultra-movement , consisting of four men, is also opposing him despite the stadium ban . The game also turns out to be difficult, because after the slightest foul , Lorit is sent off. After a brief protest, his team continues without him. Eventually the Ultras manage to ignite a Bengali fire and the stadium disappears in the fog. At this moment, Jeannot enters the scene and infects one after the other. Chaos breaks out. Sam, who doesn't notice any of this, is led to a pub by Cléo. There she reveals to him that she did not want to turn him on, but is actually his 17 year old daughter. At that moment Solène comes into the pub and chaos breaks loose there too.

Second halftime

The survivors prepare for the showdown in different groups. Idriss, betrayed by his agent, who found him to have a meniscus injury , makes ends meet with one of the ultras in the stadium. The Ultra manages to play their battle song.

Meanwhile, Cléo, Solène and Sam meet Sam's father, the village policeman and two surviving Ultras. You're trying to get the situation right. To do this, they barricade themselves in the police station. When Sam's father tries to inform the army over the CB radio , he is injured. Together with Solène and his son, they make their way to the doctor's house. But this is the father of Jeannot and thus the root of all evil. Sam's father is killed in the ensuing fight. Soléne and Sam return to the police station, but Cléo and the Ultras have heard the stadium singing and are on their way to free their buddy.

All survivors meet on the playing field. But in a fight with one of the zombies, the music is accidentally switched on and all zombies rush into the stadium. The survivors now face an overwhelming number of zombies. So Sam and Idriss do what they do best: they play soccer and can distract the zombies while the rest of the group gets to safety. When everyone is safe, Idress and Sam also try to save each other, but meet Jeannot, whom they can defeat together. Then they are rescued and the army rushes towards the city to get hold of the zombies.

During the credits Sam can be seen, meanwhile in a relationship with Solène, he now owns the village pub. Meanwhile, the living residents have come to terms with the zombies.

Reviews

The film magazine Cinema rated the film relatively good:

“With playful staging and dry humor, 'Goal of the Dead' holds the genre mirror in front of the football business and fan culture in an entertainingly ironic way. A regular playing time of 90 minutes would have been enough. "
