Godendorf ( Luxembourgish Godendrëf ) is a district of the local community Ralingen in the district of Trier-Saarburg in Rhineland-Palatinate .

location

Godendorf is located on the Sauer directly on the border with Luxembourg , about 18 km from Trier. The federal road 418 runs past the village . The neighboring towns of Godendorf are Edingen in the west and Ralingen in the east. Godendorf is located in the southern part of the German-Luxembourg nature park .

history

The place was first mentioned in writing in a document from the year 862, in which goods and lands were transferred to the abbot of Echternach (Luxembourg) . During archaeological excavations about 500 m north of the place old settlement remains were found.

Until the end of the 18th century, Godendorf belonged to the Luxembourg dominion of Rosport .
