Goldman Sachs New World Headquarters is a 228 meter high skyscraper in New York City . The building was constructed between 2006 and 2010. The building is located at 200 West Street and is sometimes named for its address. The 44-story high-rise is the corporate headquarters of the Goldman Sachs bank . The architects Pei, Cobb & Freed were commissioned to plan .
The owner moved into the newly built skyscraper at the end of 2009 and the final completion was at the beginning of 2010. The topping-out ceremony was celebrated in December 2008 . It's located on West Street in Lower Manhattan . Ground Zero is directly opposite the building , and the One World Trade Center is only a few meters away . Immediately on the other side of West Street is the 7 World Trade Center, which is equally high . The facade of the tower was designed entirely with glass . On the west side, the building reflects the nearby Hudson River . What is architecturally special about this building is that it looks angular from the east side, i.e. facing Manhattan, and has a rounded facade when viewed from the east towards the Hudson River. The building also only has a recess on the upper floors on the east side, which, however, is omitted on the other side. Just across the Hudson River, in Jersey City , New Jersey, is a new tower of a similar size that is owned by Goldman Sachs Bank.
The New York construction company Tishman Construction was entrusted with the execution of the construction work . During the construction, ecological aspects were also in the foreground.
