The Goldne Steinrück (also Goldener Steinrück or Goldener Stein ) is 578 m above sea level. NN a mountain of the Vogelsberg in the Vogelsbergkreis , Hesse ( Germany ).

The Goldne Steinrück is located between Engelrod , a district of Lautertal , in the southeast and Helpershain , a district of Ulrichstein , in the northwest.

On the Goldnen Steinrück there is a wind park with 43 wind turbines (→ wind park “Goldner Steinrück” ). It is the largest and most efficient of the five wind farms in the urban area of Ulrichstein and it also extends to the districts of Dirlammen, Engelrod and Meiches, which belong to the neighboring municipality of Lautertal. At the same time, it is the largest contiguous wind farm (in terms of number of turbines and total nominal output ) in Hesse.

Conservationists criticize the proximity of these wind farms to the migration routes and habitats of birds.

After a lawsuit by NABU before the Hessian Administrative Court in Kassel , the latter temporarily suspended the operating license for five of seven wind turbines built in the previous year with a hub height of 138 m on May 14, 2012. At the beginning of December 2012, the parties involved reached an agreement to end the legal proceedings, which includes the establishment of a fund for the protection of biodiversity with start-up capital of 500,000 euros.

The Energiekontor company planned to repower its four plants in the Engelrod district by the end of 2014, whereby the three new plants should achieve an output of 2.4 to 3.4 MW each. Similar to the case of other wind farm projects in the Vogelsberg district, the local group of a regional citizens' initiative founded in 2012 was formed which, in addition to the change in the landscape, also complained about the inefficiency of wind energy in the Vogelsberg and possible damage to health due to noise emissions.
