The Gulf of Boothia ( English Gulf of Boothia ) is a body of water in the Canadian territory of Nunavut . The western part belongs to the Kitikmeot region , while the eastern part belongs to the Qikiqtaaluk region. The Gulf of Boothia is located between Baffin Island and the Boothia Peninsula . It is also bounded by the Melville Peninsula and the Canadian mainland in the south.

To the north, the Gulf of Boothia opens up to Prince Regent Inlet . The Fury and Hecla Strait connects the water with the Foxe Basin . The Bellot Strait is a very narrow and often frozen waterway between the Gulf of Boothia and the Peel Sound and Franklin Strait . Committee Bay is to the south of the Gulf of Boothia and the smaller Pelly Bay is to the southwest .
