The Gulf of Lagonoy is a large sea ​​bay in the southeast of the island of Luzon , in the Philippines . It is a sea bulge in the southwest of the Philippine Sea and extends from the east coast of the Bicol peninsula , the Caramoan peninsula to the island of Catanduanes . It is separated from the Gulf of Albay in the south by the islands of Rapu-Rapu , Batan , Cagraray and San Miuguel Island .

The Gulf of Lagonoy is considered to be one of the most productive fishing areas on the east coast of the Philippines. It covers an area of ​​3,701 km² at a depth of 800 to 1,200 meters. The coastline of the Gulf of Lagonoy is determined by a mixture of mangrove forests , sandy beaches and extensive marshland that fall dry at low tide . In front of the coastline are numerous coral reefs that cover an area of ​​170 km². Seagrass meadows cover an area of ​​83 km² and mangrove forests cover around 6 km² on the coastline.
