geography
Cagraray Island is about 3 km off the coast of the Bicol Peninsula and, together with Rapu-Rapu , San Miguel , Guinangayan and Batan Island, separates the Gulf of Lagonoy from the Gulf of Albay in the western Philippine Sea . The island is shaped like an anvil that is oriented in a north-south direction. The topography of the island is characterized by a hilly terrain that rises in the interior of the island to over 250 meters above sea level and has gradients that can reach a 50% gradient. The coastline of the 15 km long and 9 km wide island is characterized by sand and gravel beaches as well as basalt formations . The vegetation of the island consists of a partially dense tropical rainforest vegetation , which has a very original character.
There are ferry connections to the island from the port in Legazpi City and Bacacay. The crossing takes about 30 to 45 minutes.
