The island of Ticao is located in the Sibuyan Sea and is - next to Masbate and Burias - one of the three main islands of the Philippine province of Masbate .

In June and July 1646 the port of San Jacinto was besieged by a fleet of seven Dutch galleons and 16 barges . It was an interlude between the first and second of a total of five naval battles of La Naval de Manila , in which the Netherlands tried to conquer the Philippines
