Naro Island is an island in the Masbate Province of the Philippines . It is located about 8 km off the south coast of the island of Masbate and 12 km southeast of the island of Chico , 25 km to the north is the island of Peña . Naro Island is located in the Gulf of Asid, to the north of the Visayas Sea . It is administered from the municipality of Cawayan and on it are the barangays Naro, Lo-oc, Punta Batsan and Talisay, which are described as village-like . In the 2007 census, exactly 8,815 inhabitants were registered.

The island is shaped like a hand ax oriented north to south. The island is around 4.8 km long and 2.1 km wide and has coral reefs and seagrass meadows in the northeast . The topography of the island is characterized by a flat hilly terrain. The island's vegetation consists of dense tropical vegetation. The population lives mainly from fishing, in the interior of the island there are also smaller areas used for agriculture. On the coastline of the island there are larger mangrove forests , which have been under nature protection since April 23, 2000. The Naro Island Wildlife Sanctuary was established on an area of ​​109.98 hectares .

There is a ferry connection to the island from the port in Cawayan, it takes about 30-40 minutes.
