Golovin is a town in the Nome Census Area in western Alaska . In 2010 it had 156 inhabitants.

Golovin is located on a headland in the south of the Seward Peninsula . It is located at the exit of the Golovnin lagoon to Golovnin Bay . 115 km to the west is the town of Nome .

Golovin was named after Vasily Michailowitsch Golownin , Vice Admiral of the Russian Navy , whereby the place, in contrast to the adjacent lagoon and bay, adopted a wrong spelling.
