Gonzalo Barreto , full name Gonzalo Barreto Mastropierro , (born January 22, 1992 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

The 1.73-meter-tall offensive player Barreto is described as a technically strong player who has excellent dribbling skills and has already been compared to Mauro Zárate and Ernesto Chevantón .

At the beginning of his career he was at least in the Apertura 2009 in the squad of the Uruguayan first division club Danubio . For the Montevideans he ran in a game in the Primera División . This league debut he celebrated on August 23, 2009 under coach Jorge Giordano in the encounter against Tacuarembó FC , when he came on in the 77th minute for Hámilton Ricard . At the turn of the year 2009/10 he then moved to Italy to Lazio Rome , where the Uruguayan signed a five-year contract. He has not been in the Serie A used. In the 2012/13 season he was in ranks of US Salernitana . However, he did not receive any working time. He then returned to Lazio. In January 2015, his career path led back to Danubio. There he completed ten top division games (two goals) by the end of the 2014/15 season and played in two matches (one goal) of the 2015 Copa Libertadores . During the 2015/16 season, he played in 28 top division games and scored seven goals. After seven other first division appearances (one goal) in the 2016 season, Barreto moved to Universidad de Concepción in Chile in mid-January 2017 .

National team

Barreto belonged to the U-17 team of Uruguay , coached by Roland Marcenaro , who took part in the U-17 South American Championship in Chile in 2009 and took 3rd place. He was also part of the squad for the 2009 U-17 World Cup in Nigeria . He was used three times in the World Cup tournament. He didn't score a goal.

Others

In July 2010, Barreto hit the headlines because of a tragic event in close family circles. His mother, the then 47-year-old notary public Yanela Mastropierro, was stabbed to death by her partner in Treinta y Tres . The significant other then hanged himself.
