The VFW 200 is a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series car race that takes place at Michigan International Speedway near Brooklyn in southeastern Michigan . It has only been on the racing calendar since 1999; in 2001 it was not held. It covers a distance of 200 miles, which corresponds to 100 laps. This race distance, which has been contested since the first event, has never been changed. In 2004 there was a green-white checkered finish , as there was another yellow phase a few laps before the end. As a result, a total of 204 miles and thus two laps more than planned were driven in the race.
The first time the race was called goracing.com 200 , in 2000 and 2002 there was no main sponsor and in the following years Sears and Con-way sponsored the race among others .
