Gorica Aćimović (born February 28, 1985 in Banja Luka ) is a Bosnian handball player who has also had Austrian citizenship since 2007.
Career
Aćimović played in the 2003/04 season for the French first division club Mérignac HB , with whom she took part in the EHF Challenge Cup . In January 2004 the backcourt player moved to the Austrian club Hypo Niederösterreich , with whom she won the championship and the cup several times in the coming seasons. From summer 2009 to the end of the 2010/11 season she played for the Danish top club Viborg HK . With Viborg she won the EHF Champions League and the Danish championship in 2010 . In 2011, Aćimović joined the Slovenian association RK Krim Ljubljana . With Krim, she won the Slovenian Cup and the championship in 2012. In summer 2012 she returned to Hypo Niederösterreich. In 2013 she won the European Cup Winners' Cup with Hypo . She also won the championship and the ÖHB-Cup in 2013, 2014 and 2015 . After the 2014/15 season, she ended her career. From February 2016 she ran again for Hypo Niederösterreich. In 2016, 2017 and 2018 she won the championship and in 2016 the ÖHB Cup. After the 2017/18 season, she left Hypo Lower Austria.
For Bosnia, Aćimović played international matches for the junior team. After her naturalization, she has been a member of the Austrian team since 2007 . However, she did not take part in the 2009 World Handball Championship in China.
Her husband Vytautas Žiūra is also a well-known Austrian handball player.
