The Gottesehre Pit is a disused mine in Oberbildstein near Urberg in the southern Black Forest .

history

Beginnings

In the mining area near Urberg and Bildstein, which has been proven since 1328 , lead and silver ores were mined in the Ruprecht tunnel in the Middle Ages on the Ruprecht gangway , the most important gangway in the Hotzenwald . The ores were picked up by hand and transported to distant smelting works, primarily the smelting works in the Münstertal . Around 1750 the silver ore was also minted into exploitation coins. The tunnels and tunnels were repeatedly left open for longer periods of time and then reopened or rebuilt.

On December 18, 1815, Konrad Hebi from Villingen, who had also discovered the salt deposits in Bad Dürrheim , asked for permission to resume operations at the Bildstein mine ; he received it on February 14, 1816, but died soon afterwards. The Steiger of Erzinspektion Klettgau the Bohnerzwäscherei monitored, issued an opinion. Forester Gerber pointed out in 1815 that the Urbach forms the border between the Zwing and Bann St. Blasien and the county of Hauenstein , the old Ruprecht pit in Winterholz is located in the area of Bildstein and thus belongs to St. Blasien.

In 1817 Christian Leberecht Paul resumed operations. He already had the Vitriolwerk Todtmoos-Schwarzenbach built up and then took the pit rich blessing of God in Schallsingen in Schliengen that pit Hermann on Waßen in Görwihl and the first time as a new pit hope God called mine in operation. In 1819 he built a stamping mill . However, the yield of lead and silver ores was hardly sufficient to maintain the company, and in 1820 the work was stopped.

In October 1829 Friedrich August Walchner examined the mine area and some new tunnels were excavated, these activities ended again in 1835.

Fluorspar was mined for the first time in 1868, and operations ceased in 1877. In 1900 the fields were re-lent, projected for lead and silver ores.

Modern times

In 1952, the company Fluß- und Schwerspatwerke Pforzheim GmbH examined the area again for fluorspar and heavy spar, and operations began in 1954. The processing takes place after transport via the Rhine port Rheinfelden to the Rhine port Karlsruhe in the local flotation plant . In 1984 supplies were largely exhausted. Explorations continued until 1987, but abandoned due to the lack of further deposits. The overburden dump was popular with collectors, where some beautiful pieces were found, including solid silver. Today there is a mineral museum on site. The establishment as a show mine could not be realized.
