Gottfried Haas

Gottfried Haas (born October 21, 1943 in Beijing , died 2016) was a German diplomat .

education and study

Foreign service

After joining the Foreign Service in 1971, he worked at the Embassy in Bulgaria and in the Foreign Office (personal assistant to a Minister of State ). From 1981 to 1983 he was Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to Singapore . After working at the embassy in Great Britain (political advisor), he was Deputy Head of the “ United Nations ” unit in the Foreign Office from 1987 to 1991 . After working at the embassy in the USA , Haas was head of the department for Southeastern Europe at the Foreign Office in Bonn from 1995 to 2000 . Haas then served as the predecessor of Christian Paul's Ambassador to Ireland from 2000 to August 2005 . He then headed the German Embassy in Rabat ( Morocco ) until he retired in 2008 . He died in Berlin in 2016.
