Gottfried Kirchner

Gottfried Kirchner (born May 6, 1940 - October 28, 2017 ) was a German journalist , author and documentary filmmaker .

Life

Kirchner studied German language and literature , art history , philosophy and archeology and received his doctorate as Dr. phil. He was a lecturer at the University of Mainz . From 1971 he produced numerous films on art and cultural-historical topics for ZDF . In 1977 and 1978 Kirchner received the journalist award of the German National Committee for Monument Protection . In the 1980s and 1990s he produced numerous television documentaries for the television series Terra X , of which he is considered to be the inventor.
