Gottfried Rudolf von Ditmar

Gottfried Rudolf von Ditmar , Gottfried Freiherr von Ditmar since 1753, (* February 1716 in Schlagsdorf ; † January 17, 1795 in Schwerin ) was a privy councilor in Mecklenburg-Schwerin .

Life

He was born as the son of pastor Balthasar Adolf Ditmar († 1730) in Schlagsdorf near Ratzeburg . After studying law, he first became legal advisor to Count von Rantzau zu Bramstedt and then entered the service of the Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Carl Leopold . In 1740 he was chancellor here, in 1741 secretary and in 1745 chancellery. Under Christian Ludwig he became a councilor in 1747, vice chancellor in 1750 and a real secret council in 1752. After a successful mission in Vienna, in which he had represented the interests of the duke against the united estates before the court commission, he was raised to the rank of baron in 1753.

After his return he participated in the development of the Land constitutional comparison of inheritance , as the actual creator of which he is called. After his release in 1762 he was appointed Reichshofrat in Vienna. He had to give up this office after a short time due to financial collapse and after his return to Schwerin he remained the counselor of Duke Friedrich Franz until his death . His private library is considered the foundation of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Library
