Gottfried Schäffer

Gottfried Schäffer (born April 2, 1927 in Munich ; † August 12, 1984 in Fahlburg , South Tyrol ) was a Passau pharmacist, city ​​councilor and district and later city ​​home administrator .

He is the namesake of Gottfried-Schäffer-Strasse in Passau's old town.

Life

After his birth in Munich , Gottfried Schäffer attended the Leopoldinum grammar school in Passau after the family moved , and then studied pharmacy, history and art history at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich ; he received his doctorate in 1972.

In Passau, Gottfried Schäffer was appointed district home administrator in 1958 and in 1960 as a city councilor of the CSU to the honorary board of directors of the Prince-Bishop's Opera House and the Upper House Museum. In 1964, the “accomplished connoisseur of Passau history” was appointed as the successor to Hans Karl Moritz, in addition to the honorary Passau home curator.

Schäffer was already a member of the Association for East Bavarian Homeland Research from 1945 , its secretary from 1951 to 1969 and vice-chairman from 1969 to his death in 1984. In 1984 he would have given the former mayor and honorary citizen of the city of Passau, Dr. Emil Brichta should succeed in the office of the first chairman, from which he had resigned. This honor could only be bestowed on him for a short time due to his death.
