Gottfried Zeitz

Gottfried Zeitz (born November 19, 1948 in Friedberg (Hessen) ) is a German diplomat a. D.

Life

After graduating from high school , basic military service and civil service, Gottfried Zeitz studied German and Classical Philology in Gießen , Munich and Frankfurt am Main from 1968 to 1973 and, after passing the first and second state examinations, worked in school service at the Wöhlerschule in Frankfurt am Main from 1973 to 1980 . In 1977 he received his doctorate on Theodor Fontane from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

In 1980 he entered the diplomatic service and, after completing his training as attaché and working at the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn, was transferred to the embassy in New Zealand . Back in Bonn from 1988 to 1991, he then worked at the embassy in Israel .

After returning to the Foreign Office, he became Consul General in Krakow in 1999 . He was then permanent representative of the ambassador to Iran between 2002 and 2004 .

In 2004 he became foreign policy advisor to the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media , and from 2005 to 2008 he was the office manager of the former Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker .

In 2008 Gottfried Zeitz was appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Cyprus. From 2011 until his retirement he headed the Consulate General in Wroclaw.
