List of Governors of Gibraltar
The governor and commander in chief of Gibraltar ( English Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Gibraltar ) is the representative of the British Crown in the overseas territory of Gibraltar . He is appointed by the British monarch on a proposal from the British government and acts de facto as head of state. He appoints the Chief Minister of Gibraltar and the other members of the government. He continues to have sole responsibility for security and defense policy. The current governor is Lieutenant General of the Royal Marines Sir Edward Davis .
