Graßnitz is a locality and as Grassnitz a cadastral municipality of the municipality of Aflenz in the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district in Styria .

The village also includes the Rotte Seebach ( 730  m above sea level ), the earth radio station Aflenz , the weekend settlement Siedlerring Graßnitz and a single location. The wayside shrine at the southwest end of the village near Graßnitz 29 is a listed building ( list entry ).

Settlement development

At the turn of the year 1979/1980 there were a total of 141 building areas with 39,558 m² and 104 gardens on 81,644 m² in the cadastral community of Grassnitz , in 1989/1990 there were 142 building areas. In 1999/2000 the number of building areas had grown to 412 and in 2009/2010 there were 192 buildings on 430 building areas.

Land use

The cadastral community is characterized by agriculture and forestry. 313 hectares were used for agriculture at the turn of 1979/1980 and 552 hectares were forest areas. In 1999/2000 agriculture was carried out on 242 hectares and 576 hectares were designated as areas used for forestry. At the end of 2018, 225 hectares were used as agricultural land and forestry was carried out on 570 hectares. The average soil climate number of Grassnitz is 25.6 (as of 2010).
