The young Gran lives on St.Island with the dragon Vyrn. He wants to get stronger to protect the island's residents, but also to find his missing father. One day the island is attacked by the empire, which uses the remnants of the astrals to conquer its neighbors. During the attack, Gran meets the girl Lyria, who is being pursued by the forces of the Empire because she can rule astral beasts.
