The Town of Grant is located in northwest central Wisconsin. The Town of Grant almost completely encloses the independent community of Granton in the northeast , without it being part of the town. The Mississippi border with Minnesota is about 130 km west of the Town of Grant.

The US Highway 10 runs west-east direction by the Town of Grant. In addition, the County Highway K runs through the town. All other roads are subordinate country roads or partly unpaved roads.
With the Neillsville Municipal Airport there is a small airfield in the center of the town. The nearest commercial airports are Central Wisconsin Airport in Wausau (around 80 km east-northeast) and the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport in Eau Claire (around 100 km west-northwest).
