The Green River ( English for "Green River") the largest flowing water in Wayne County in the US state of Tennessee .
The source of the Green River is approximately 7 miles southeast of the main town of Waynesboro , and the river then flows there in a northeast direction. Then it turns strongly meandering almost due north, and then flows into the Buffalo River just south of the Perry County border .
It is used to supply Waynesboro with water. The greenish-blue color that gives it its name can be observed particularly in the lower reaches.
