Green Tree is a suburb of Pittsburgh in the US state of Pennsylvania . The place is connected to Pittsburgh by the Fort Pitt tunnel under Mount Washington .

Congressman Ron Paul and television actor Zachary Quinto from the series Heroes were born in Green Tree .

Green Tree was settled by Europeans in 1793 and mainly used for agriculture. The Green Tree Borough emblem shows a green tree on an orange background. The place was named after a Sycamore tree, which was used as a symbol for stagecoaches at the end of the 19th century. A memorial plaque now stands in its place. At the beginning of the 20th century, the place was connected to the railway network of the Wabash Railroad via the Rook station . Green Tree has been part of Pittsburgh since 1885.
