Greenleaf is an American television series. It was broadcast by the broadcaster OWN from June 21, 2016 and is the first series of the station that does not come from the pen of Tyler Perry . In German-speaking countries, like everywhere outside of the United States and Canada, the series has been on view on the video-on-demand provider Netflix since March 3, 2017 .

Greenleaf follows the characteristic Greenleaf family and their so-called Mega Church in Memphis, Tennessee, with predominantly African-American members. The main characters of the series are Bishop James Greenleaf and Lady Mae Greenleaf, the patriarch and matriarch of the Greenleaf family, and Grace Greenleaf, their estranged daughter who has come home after 20 years and wants to solve the mysterious death of her sister, Faith .
