Greenwood Lake is a village in Orange County of New York in the United States . In 2000 the village had 3411 inhabitants. It is located in the southern part of the Town of Warwick .

According to the United States Census Bureau , the village has a total area of 6.4 km², of which 5.3 km² is land and 1.1 km² (= 17.07%) is water. Greenwood Lake is located at the northern end of the lake of the same name , which lies on the state border between New York and New Jersey .
Within Greenwood Lake is the junction of New York State Route 210 from New York State Route 17A .
Demographics
At the time of the United States Census 2000, Greenwood Lake was inhabited by 3,411 people. The population density was 645.6 people per km ². There were 1534 housing units at an average of 290.3 per km ². The Greenwood Lakes population was 95.57% White , 0.76% Black or African American , 0.26% Native American , 0.85% Asian , 0.03% Pacific Islander , 0.82% said others Belonging to races and 1.70% named two or more races. 5.04% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of Greenwood Lakes distributed to 1,332 households out of which 34.4% were living in children under 18 years of age. 50.7% of households were married, 11.1% had a female head of household without a husband and 34.1% were not families. 26.7% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 7.6% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.18.
