Gregory S. "Greg" Bell (born October 16, 1948 in Ogden , Utah ) is an American politician . Between 2009 and 2013 he was Lieutenant Governor of the state of Utah.

Career

Greg Bell attended Weber State University in Ogden until 1972 . After a subsequent law degree at the University of Utah , he was admitted to the bar in 1975. Between 1977 and 1981 he was Vice President of United Savings . Since then he has worked as a lawyer in various law firms. Since 1997 he has also been active in the real estate industry.

Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In 1990 he became a councilor and in 1994 mayor of Farmington . He held this office until 2002. Between 2003 and 2009 he was a member of the Utah Senate . After Governor Jon Huntsman was appointed US Ambassador to the People's Republic of China, Vice Governor Gary R. Herbert was promoted to the highest office in Utah in 2009. This appointed Greg Bell to succeed him as lieutenant governor. In 2012 he was officially elected to this position, which he held between 2009 and his resignation in 2013. In addition, he practically exercised the office of Secretary of State existing in most other states , which does not exist in Utah and whose functions are incumbent on the lieutenant governor. On September 16, 2013, he resigned for personal reasons. Thereupon Spencer Cox appointed as his successor.

On October 28, 2013, it was announced that Greg Bell had been appointed as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of the Utah Hospital Association .
