W. Val Oveson

Wilford Val Oveson (born February 11, 1952 ) is an American politician . Between 1985 and 1993 he was Lieutenant Governor of the state of Utah .

Career

Val Oveson graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo , where he studied accounting. He then worked for a few years in Orem as a sworn accountant before he founded his own company in this branch. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . Between 1980 and 1985 he was a State Auditor for Utah. In 1984 he was elected lieutenant governor of his state alongside Norman H. Bangerter . He held this office after a re-election between 1985 and 1993. He was Deputy Governor . In addition, he practically exercised the office of Secretary of State existing in most other states , which does not exist in Utah and whose functions are incumbent on the lieutenant governor.

Between 1993 and 1998, Oveson was chairman of his state's tax commission. In 1998 he became head of the Office of the Taxpayer Advocate , which reports to the Federal Internal Revenue Service . In 2000 he became one of the directors of the PricewaterhouseCoopers group of companies active in the tax and economic area . In 2003 he served again as Chief Information Officer for the state government of Utah. Then he returned to the private sector. Today he works for the Roc Consulting Group , which takes on advisory tasks in the technology sector.
