Okka disk

Okka Disk is an American music label for jazz and improvisation music .

The label was founded by Bruno Johnson as a short-lived rock label, before Johnson focused on jazz and improvised music in Chicago from the mid-1990s. First publications were a recording of the duo Fred Anderson / Steve McCall from 1980 ( Vintage Duets ) and Caffeine , a trio around Ken Vandermark . This was followed by albums with recordings by Marilyn Crispell , Hamid Drake , Peter Brötzmann , Mats Gustafsson , Michael Zerang , Barry Guy , Paul Lovens , Joe McPhee , Kent Kessler , Evan Parker , Anthony Braxton , Georg Graewe , Jeb Bishop , Jim Baker and Dave Rempis / Nate McBride / Tim Daisy .

From 2009, the label hosted the Okka Fest in Milwaukee , where Johnson moved in 2004 (2014 with performances by, but not limited to, Agustí Fernández , Joe Morris , Paal Nilssen-Love , Mars Williams and Nate Wooley ).
