Gregor Bachmann

Gregor Bachmann (* 1966 in Düsseldorf ) is a German lawyer and professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1985 at the Humboldt Gymnasium in Düsseldorf , Bachmann was a regular soldier until 1987. From 1987 to 1991 he studied law at the University of Passau and at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1987 he became a member of the Corps Budissa in Passau . In 1993 he did his doctorate at the University of Passau with a thesis on criminal proceedings with Werner Beulke . From 1993 to 1994 Bachmann completed a master's degree at the University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor ( USA ) and obtained the academic degree of LL.M. After his legal clerkship in Berlin and Washington, DC , Bachmann worked as a lawyer in Berlin and Frankfurt am Main with Hengeler Mueller .

From 1998 to 2004 he was a research assistant and habilitation candidate at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 2004 he completed his habilitation. In the same year Bachmann received offers from the Bucerius Law School , the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and the University of Trier . From 2004 to 2009 he was a professor at the University of Trier. In 2008, Bachmann rejected calls from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 2009 to 2016 he held the chair for civil law , commercial , corporate and capital market law and legal theory at the Free University of Berlin . In 2010 he was a speaker and in 2014 a reviewer for the German Lawyers' Association , 2015/2016 Research Fellow at King's College London and Professor at the Center for Transnational Legal Studies (London) . In 2016 he accepted a professorship at the Humboldt University of Berlin and has held the chair for civil and corporate law ever since.

Research priorities and memberships

His main research and practice areas are German and European company and capital market law, in particular corporate governance law and the liability and responsibility of board members.

Gregor Bachmann is a member of the board of the Civil Law Teachers Association (ZLV), the Advisory Board of the Scientific Association for Company and Corporate Law (VGR) and the Advisory Board of the German Law Journal (GLJ). He is a member of the group of editors of the "Journal for the entire commercial law and business law" (ZHR) and advises the Federal Ministry of Finance on questions of financial market regulation. Gregor Bachmann has been a participant in the annual selection group "Legal Books of the Year" since 2016.
