Gregor Kathstede (* 15. August 1963 in Krefeld ), son of Paul and Anita Kathstede, is a German politician of the CDU . He was Lord Mayor of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Krefeld from October 2004 to October 20, 2015 .

education

After graduating from high school Horkesgath in Krefeld in 1983, Kathstede studied French , history and education in Düsseldorf from 1984 to 1992 , spending an academic year in Nantes , France , in 1987/1988 . In 1992 and 1994 he passed his first and second state exams.

Offices

From 1994 to 1997 Kathstede was a research assistant in the Bundestag office of the former Mayor of Krefeld, Dieter Pützhofen . He then worked as a senior teacher at the Theodor-König-Gesamtschule in Duisburg until 2004 . In 1999 he was elected to the council of the city of Krefeld. In 2003 he was elected honorary mayor. From 2004 to 2015 he was Lord Mayor of the City of Krefeld. Kathstede was u. a. Member of the Presidium of the German Association of Cities, the Association of North Rhine-Westphalia Cities and the Board of the Sparkassen- und Giroverband NRW. During his term of office, the foundation of the Krefeld community foundation, of which he was chairman of the board of trustees for many years, the redesign and modernization of the Krefeld city center, the revitalization of the Krefeld harbor and the rescue of the Krefeld hospital. Kathstede announced in August 2014 that, for personal reasons, she did not want to run again for the office of mayor in September 2015. Gregor Kathstede has received numerous awards, including the city mint of the city of Krefeld in gold and the Eberle medal of the Rheinischer Sparkassen- und Giroverband.

Kathstede has been working as an independent management consultant since 2016. He is primarily involved in the foundation sector on a voluntary basis.
