Gregor Sander (born April 24, 1968 in Schwerin ) is a German author .

Life

Before Sander began studying, he completed training as a locksmith and nurse . He then studied medicine for three semesters at the University of Rostock and then a few semesters of German and history at the Humboldt University in Berlin . From 1996 to 1997 he attended the Berlin School of Journalism .

He started his literary career in 2002 with the volume of short stories I was born here . With the title story of his volume of short stories Winterfisch , published in spring 2011 , he was successful at the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in 2009 and received the “3sat Prize” there. Sander received a ten-week scholarship at Queen Mary University of London in 2012.

Sander wrote the screenplay for the film What would have been , which premiered at the Munich Film Festival in 2019, based on his own novel. Directed by Florian Koerner von Gustorf , Ronald Zehrfeld and Christiane Paul can be seen in the leading roles .

Sander lives as a freelance author in Berlin.
