Gregor's greatest invention is a German short film comedy by Johannes Kiefer from 2001.

action

Gregor, who lives in the same house with his grandmother Herta, is a passionate inventor. Above all, he helps his grandmother, who has increasing problems walking and is therefore dependent on a wheelchair, with his tinkering in everyday life, so he builds her a leg massager out of a mixer. One day Herta's friends Frieda, Hilda and Gerda come to visit. They want to convince Herta to move with them to the Jeserig retirement home. Herta is unsure, she doesn't know what to do in the old people's home.

During a walk in the forest, Herta's wheelchair breaks and she ends up in a lake, from which she escapes on foot to the shore. Gregor is thrilled when he realizes that his grandmother can actually still walk and starts to tinker with a new invention: In the barn by the house he hangs up a support frame that is connected to a rail on the ceiling. Herta tries the construction, but is too cocky and brings it to collapse. The action is disguised as a domestic accident from the friends - which leads the three to insist even more on moving to the old people's home. They also claim that Gregor would certainly rather do other things than look after his grandmother. Herta becomes unsure whether she is a burden for her grandson after all.

Gregor starts building a new construction. This time he wants to make walking easier with a body strap that hangs on helium balloons. While the three friends want to take Herta out of the house and into the car to the retirement home, Gregor tests his new invention, but takes off unplanned and soars into the air. Herta shoots the balloons with a rifle, but first hits Gregor in the leg and only then hits the balloons. Herta's friends give up their plan with the old people's home because grandchildren and grandma are just too crazy. Gregor now has a leg in plaster from his adventure and hobbles on crutches, while Herta slowly learns to walk with his balloon invention. At the end you can see them both laughing and running across a meadow.
