Gregory Jackson

Gregory Jackson (born October 28, 1971 in St. Louis ) is an American sociologist and professor in the Department of Management at the Free University of Berlin .

Life

Jackson studied sociology and German literature at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1992 . From 1992 to 1993 Jackson conducted research at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1996 . In 1996 he received his Masters in Sociology from Columbia University in New York . From 1996 to 2002 he also conducted research at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne . From 1999–2000 he was a visiting researcher at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Japan . From 2001 to 2002 he was visiting lecturer at the University of Duisburg .

In 2002 he received his Ph.D. from Columbia University. in sociology. He then worked at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry in Tokyo until 2004 , where he also had other guest stays until 2006. From 2004 to 2008 Jackson was a lecturer in Comparative Management and Strategy at King's College London . From 2008 he was Professor of Business and Sociology at the University of Bath . In 2009 he was visiting professor of management at Hong Kong Polytechnic University . Since 2010 he has been an “International Research Fellow” at the University of Oxford and has had various guest stays at Loughborough University London and Waseda University in Tokyo. From 2016 to 2018 he was "Einstein Research Fellow" at the Social Science Research Center Berlin .

Jackson has been Professor of Human Resources Policy at the Free University of Berlin since 2010.

Appreciations

The Handelsblatt counts Jackson among the best business economists in the German-speaking area. In 2018 he received the JIBS Decade Award together with Richard Deeg . In 2014 he was listed by Thomson Reuters in the list "The World's Most Influential Scientific Minds" under the category "Economics and Business".
