Gregory Mcdonald
Gregory Mcdonald (born February 15, 1937 in Shrewsbury , Massachusetts , † September 7, 2008 in Pulaski , Tennessee ) was an American mystery writer. He became known through the multiple filmed character of Irwin Maurice Fletcher, called Fletch.
Life
Mcdonald, the son of a CBS news reporter , received a BA from Harvard University in 1958. He then began working as a reporter and editor for the Boston Globe . He moved to Pulaski in the mid-1980s. There he became involved against the Ku Klux Klan (the Klan was founded in Pulaski in 1965).
He was married to Cheryle, nee Higgins, in 2001. He died of prostate cancer , leaving two sons and three stepons.

In 1964 he published his first novel, Running Scared , which deals with suicide. The work was filmed in 1972 with Robert Powell . In 1974, Mcdonald created the character of Irwin Maurice Fletcher, called Fletch in the novel of the same name. The result was a total of nine novels about Fletch, two of which, Fletch (1974, German: Victim Seeks a Matching Murderer ), the Edgar Allan Poe Award in the Best First Work category, and Confess, Fletch (1976, German: Mordern Seeks a Matching Scapegoat ) in the Winner category Best Original Paperback. So far two films have been made about Fletch, first in 1985 Fletch - The Troublemaker and 1989 Fletch - The Jack of all trades . Chevy Chase plays the title role in both films . Another book of Mcdonald, The Brave from 1991, was in 1997 with Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando filmed .
