Life

Gret Loewensberg was married to Gerold Loewensberg's first marriage. Their son Valentin was born in 1971 and is also an architect. In her second marriage, Gret Loewensberg is married to Moritz Leuenberger. The actor Manuel Löwensberg, born in 1975, comes from this relationship .

politics

The architect attaches great importance to independence and avoids the public. Nevertheless, she was present on state visits and trips abroad by her husband, for example on June 28, 2001 when Václav Havel visited or on April 28–30. March 2001 when Kofi Annan visited . In 2003 she ran for the Zurich Cantonal Council .

architecture

Gret Loewensberg studied architecture at the ETH Zurich and is a member of the SIA . Loewensberg has made a name for herself as an architect with residential buildings such as the Netzwerk student estate on Bülachstrasse in Zurich together with Alfred Pfister. The structure of the settlement is reminiscent of a grid or net, the courtyards in the "meshes" are popular meeting places in summer. Due to the low structure with only three floors and the vertical division of the apartments, the building looks like a single-family housing estate. Nevertheless, the residential density is high, 250 rooms could be built on the manageable area. The infrastructure is very good, network also means your own computer network, TV channels from all over the world, party rooms and an integrated day nursery.

The “Melchrüti” residential development in Wallisellen was also realized with Alfred Pfister . In addition, Loewensberg was appointed to various juries, such as the construction of the new community hall in Affoltern am Albis or the award of the Solothurn 04 wood prize.

The redesign of her husband's office in the Federal Palace caused quite a stir . The question was whether the federal government or Leuenberger had to pay for these costs privately.

Many projects were not implemented for various reasons despite winning the competition, for example the “Laurana” cultural center in Kilchberg .
