Frequencies and Programs

Analog radio (FM)

The first VHF radio program in the Rhine-Main area started on the Großer Feldberg in the Taunus.

In the case of directed radiation, the main radiation directions are given in degrees in the antenna diagram.

In most cases, DVB-T reception from the Rhine-Main area is also possible. From there, the private broadcaster groups RTL and ProSiebenSat.1 as well as a mixed private bouquet that also contains Tele 5 come . A roof antenna aligned vertically at the Großer Feldberg im Taunus location is the best solution in this regard. Indoor or outdoor antenna reception may also be possible in favorable locations.

When using roof antennas, it should be noted that both band III VHF and band IV / V UHF are broadcast. This means that either a combination antenna Band III VHF / Band IV / V UHF or two different antennas suitable for the respective areas can be mounted in vertical polarization on the antenna mast. After the DVB-T bouquet currently broadcasting in Band III VHF was relocated to Band IV / V UHF in July 2009, DAB radio reception is then also possible via Band III VHF with the antenna set.

Analog broadcasting at this location ended with the commissioning of DVB-T on May 29, 2006. Previously the following was broadcast in analog PAL :

On December 4, 2007, the ARD digital (hr) multiplex was moved from channel 31 to channel 37. This channel was previously in operation on Donnersberg (Kirchheimbolanden) in the Palatinate and for decades it broadcast the ZDF program analogously. Transmission on channel 31 was discontinued at this point. Since this change, there have been some reception problems with channel 37 in the Wiesbaden area. Here, the hr advises in a press release to other locations such as Donnersberg or Heidelberg.

On May 21, 2008 the hr in the ARD-Digital-Multiplex in Hesse-wide on the program space of ARTE / Einsfestival changed the time sharing in favor of ARTE and instead of Einsfestival now EinsExtra (today tagesschau24) switched on.

On November 5, 2008, a channel change was carried out on the ZDF-mobil multiplex from channel 27 to channel 21. With the ZDF-mobil multiplex there is now only one SFN between Würzberg and Heidelberg, with the ARD regional (hr) multiplex the SFN between Würzberg, Heidelberg Königstuhl and Stuttgart Frauenkopf has been canceled. This multiplex is now running individually on the Würzberg transmitter with unchanged occupancy; the supply continues to be carried out by the SWR.
