The Grevillea banksii is a plant species native to Australia from the genus Grevillea ( Grevillea ) in the silver tree family (Proteaceae).

description

The plant grows as a shrub or small tree and reaches heights of up to 7 meters. The silvery green leaves are pinnate with 3 to 11 deeply divided leaflets. The individual leaflets are linear to lanceolate, 5 to 10 cm long and about 1 cm wide.

The flowers are light red to creamy white; they are terminally in inflorescences up to 15 cm long . Grevillea banksii blooms most of the year, but mostly in winter and spring.

The Grevillea banksii is Australia's Queensland home. Their occurrences range in the coastal area from Ipswich to Yeppoon .

use

The Grevillea banksii was formerly a popular ornamental plant , were of many varieties in culture. In the meantime, however , it has been supplanted from this role by newer Grevillea hybrids with smaller growth or more conspicuous or longer-lasting flowers.

Systematics

The first description by Robert Brown was published in 1810. The species epitheton banksii was chosen in honor of the English botanist Joseph Banks .
