Grigori Alexejewitsch Oparin ( Russian Григорий Алексеевич Опарин ; at FIDE Grigoriy Oparin ; born July 1, 1997 in Munich ) is a Russian chess player .

Life

Oparin's parents were physicists at the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics when he was born in Munich. Two months after he was born, his parents moved back to Russia. At the age of four he became a member of a chess club. In 2005 he won the Russian youth championship in the U8 age group. In 2007 he won silver at the European Youth Championship in the U10 in Šibenik .

In 2009 he won the Dvorkovich Memorial in Moscow . In 2011 he became International Master . Oparin had already met the required standards in 2009, and in 2011 it achieved two more standards before exceeding the required Elo rating of 2400 in September 2011 . In 2012 he won in Marienbad . In 2013 he was awarded the title of Grand Master after meeting three standards in October 2011 at the Chigorin Memorial in Saint Petersburg , in January 2013 at the Tradewise Gibraltar Masters and in September 2013 at the FE 15 Citta 'di Trieste. In the same year he won in Trieste and was at the Moscow city championship behind Yuri Yelissejew shared second together with Yevgeny Najer . In 2014 he won the Russian U21 youth championship together with Ivan Bukashwin .

He had his greatest success in July 2016 when he won the “Highest League”, the qualifying tournament for the Russian “Super Championship”, held in Kolomna . At the Russian superfinal in Novosibirsk in October of the same year , Oparin achieved a successful middle place with 5.5 out of 11.

In the Spanish team championship in chess he has been playing for CA Magic Extremadura since 2014 and in the French top 12 since 2019 for Asnières - Le Grand Echiquier .

Oparin is studying at the Russian State University in Moscow. He is engaged in linguistics and is learning Chinese .
