The Grinberg peaks comprise three peaks in the Tux ridge of the Zillertal Alps southwest of Mayrhofen :

  • Vordere Grinbergspitze ( 2764  m above sea level )
  • Middle Grinbergspitze (also tower , 2867  m above sea level )
  • Hintere Grinbergspitze (also Kristallner , 2884  m above sea level )

The Grinberg peaks form a mighty mountain range and the end of the Tux ridge to the northeast. Already in Peter Anich 's map of Tyrol from 1774 ( Atlas Tyrolensis ) the mountain range appears as the Lachtesgebirge , perhaps to the Lachtal from Spitzegg ( 2647  m above sea level ) northwards at Freithof - while the Grinbergal is the neighboring valley from the Grinbergkar to the northeast to Brunnhaus is.

Vordere and Mittlere Grinbergspitze can be reached from Finkenberg  ( 839  m above sea level ) via the Gamshütte  ( 1921  m above sea level ) in a mountain tour that requires surefootedness and a head for heights. The Hintere Grinbergspitze requires climbing of difficulty level  II or III, depending on the route.
