The Tuxer Hauptkamm , also Tuxer Kamm , is a mountain ridge in the Zillertal Alps in Tyrol .

The ridge runs from the sauna ( 2085  m ) northeast of Sterzing via the Hühnerspiel ( 2748  m ) to Wolfendorn ( 2774  m ), where it meets the main Alpine ridge . From there over the Kraxentrager ( 2999  m ) to the Hohe Wand ( 3289  m ) it forms part of the main Alpine ridge for around 8 km and thus the border between North and South Tyrol. From the Hohe Wand, the peaks reach heights of over 3000  m . From the Hohe Wand, where the Zillertal main ridge branches off to the southeast, the Tux main ridge continues to the northeast via Schrammacher ( 3410  m ) and Fußstein ( 3380  m ) and reaches the highest point in the Olperer at 3476  m . He continues on the Hohen Riffler ( 3231  m ) and ends at the Grinbergspitzen on the association of Tux Valley and Zemmtal .

The approximately 17 km long northern section separates the Zemmtal and Zamser Grund in the east from the Tux valley and Vals valley in the west. The approximately 11 km long southern part separates the Wipptal in the west from the Pfitscher valley in the east. The Tux main ridge thus forms the western end of the Zillertal Alps.

High alpine crossings exist over the Schlüsseljoch ( 2212  m ) from the Wipptal into the Pfitscher valley, over the Friedrichshöhe ( 2713  m ) from the Venntal into the Pfitscher valley, over the Alpeiner Scharte ( 2959  m ) from the Valser valley into the Zamser Grund and over the Friesenbergscharte ( 2904  m ) from the Tux valley to the Zamser Grund.

In the northern part, especially around the Olperer, the ridge is heavily glaciated, the two largest glaciers are the Tuxer Ferner and the Stampflkees . There are also some large rock glaciers in the Tux main ridge .

Large parts of the northern section are protected as part of the Zillertaler- and Tuxer Hauptkamm rest area and the Valser Tal nature reserve .
