action

To spend a carefree weekend, Wes and his friends set off with their off-road vehicle in a national park not far away. Although the access road to the park area is cordoned off and numerous warning signs indicate possible dangers in the event of unauthorized entry, the four of them drive on undeterred. When they hit a bear cub a short time later on the poorly navigable and extremely winding gravel road and fatally injure it, they are also targeted by a female bear who finds her offspring dead and then attacks the panicked group. Hastily jumped into the car, Wes and his cronies try to drive away, but a breakdown already follows in the next bend and the vehicle to save them is useless. On foot, disoriented, with no prospect of help or rescue and quickly in constant distress for the mother bear, who apparently wants to avenge the death of her offspring, a struggle for survival begins for Wes and his companions.

reception

Grizzly Rage - The mother bear's revenge received poor reviews without exception. B. were justified with a lack of tension, a clichéd plot and a poor overall cinematic implementation. Kino.de describes the film simply as "low-budget animal horror with few highlights". The lexicon of international films calls the strip a "poor animal horror film, prepared by a veteran of the B-horror film scene who reels off the commercial story without new ideas."

“[...] I have seldom seen such an uninspired and loveless animal horror film. Director David DeCoteau… fulfills all the clichés of modern horror films in this Canadian television production. [...] The bear's attacks are badly implemented, bear and human are never seen at the same time ... The whole thing is absolutely bloodless and there is no tension. [...] In terms of image technology, however, the film is convincing, the look itself isn't cheap, just the implementation.

The program guide TV Spielfilm gives the Canadian production a symbolic “thumbs down” without comment.
