Tyler Lee Hoechlin [ ˈhɛklɪn ] (born September 11, 1987 in Corona , California ) is an American film actor and former child actor .

life and career

Hoechlin has an older brother (Travis), an older sister (Carrie) and a younger brother (Tanner). As a child, he was a member of a baseball team. From 1999 he began to make a name for himself as an actor.

He made his feature film debut in 2002 in Sam Mendes gangster drama Road to Perdition , in which seeing the movie son of Tom Hanks , Michael Sullivan Jr. embodied. More than 2,000 boys were cast before Hoechlin got the role. He received a Young Artist Award for his portrayal and was nominated for a Saturn Award .

Between 2003 and 2007 Hoechlin took part in the television series A Heavenly Family , where he played the role of Martin Brewer . In 2008 he starred in Daniel Myrick's thriller Solstice .

In December 2009 he was hired for the Teen Wolf series , in which he starred as Derek Hale from 2011 to 2014. In 2017 he returned to the series for three episodes of the final season.

Hoechlin also starred alongside Owen Wilson and Christina Applegate in 2011 comedy Everything Allowed - A Week Without Rules . There he played a baseball player with whom Grace (Christina Applegate) has an affair. Since 2016 he can be seen in the television series Supergirl as Superman .
