Groß Börnecke is a district of the town of Hecklingen in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt .

The place has about 1,850 inhabitants. It is located about 12 km west of Staßfurt and 30 km south of Magdeburg . The Jakobsgrube residential area belongs to Groß Börnecke . The federal highway 180 runs 2 km west of the village .
history
It was first mentioned in a document on April 1, 1006, when King Heinrich II gave two Hufen fields in Burnacherum to his chaplain Dietrich Rodensleben . In later mentions the place was named as Bornicar , Bornikere , Börneker and ultimately as Börnecke . In 1902, Ober-Börnecke and Nieder-Börnecke merged to form Prussian-Börnecke . In 1906 a waterworks was built in the place . Economically, Groß Börnecke was shaped by agriculture. There was a state estate and several large farms in the village.
On November 1, 1928, the Prussian Börnecke manor district was merged with the Prussian Börnecke rural community.
The municipality of Preußisch Börnecke was renamed to Groß Börnecke on November 2, 1950.
A children's home was founded in the Schaeper manor house in 1951 and has been operated as a child and youth welfare center "Am Wasserturm" since 1996. Until the 1970s there were remains of a historic post mill near the village .
In 1991 the waste water association “Bodeniederung Klärwerk Hecklingen” was joined, and in 1997 all households in the town were connected to a new sewage treatment plant.
politics
Since February 27, 2004, the place has belonged to the new town of Hecklingen, in which the previously independent towns of Hecklingen and Cochstedt and the communities of Groß Börnecke and Schneidlingen joined forces after they had already worked together in the Bördeblick administrative association since 1994 .

The Sankt-Laurentius- and Sankt-Clemens-Kirche are located in the village . There is also the Groß Börnecke motor mill .
